This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to build a career in estates or facilities management within a values-driven organisation, working across a diverse family of Church of England schools. The role combines practical, real-world experience with a fully funded Level 3 Facilities Management Supervisor apprenticeship.

ShapeAbout the role

The apprentice will be employed centrally and will work across trust schools, supporting the Estates Adviser with contractor management, statutory compliance, health and safety, minor works projects, and energy and sustainability activity.

You will gain hands-on experience of how a large, multi-site organisation manages its buildings safely, efficiently and sustainably, while developing the skills needed to progress into a substantive estates or facilities management role.

ShapeKey responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with reactive repairs and maintenance coordination
  • Maintaining the trust’s approved contractor database
  • Supporting statutory compliance activity (e.g. fire safety, asbestos, legionella, electrical and gas testing)
  • Providing day-to-day health and safety support and monitoring risk management actions
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of minor works and small refurbishment projects
  • Monitoring and analysing energy consumption data, identifying trends and contributing to sustainability initiatives

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and maths
  • Is organised, reliable and keen to learn
  • Has an interest in estates, facilities management, construction or property
  • Is comfortable working with data and digital systems
  • Is willing to travel between Trust schools
  • Is committed to completing an apprenticeship programme.

A-levels (or equivalent) and any experience in a facilities, maintenance or operational environment are desirable but not essential.

ShapeEligibility

Candidates must be eligible to undertake a funded apprenticeship in England (including residency requirements).

What we offer

  • A supportive, values-led working environment
  • A structured apprenticeship with clear development pathways
  • Exposure to a wide range of estates, compliance and project activity
  • Opportunities to develop a long-term career within the trust
  • Salary at NJC SCP 3- £24,796 per annum
  • This post is fixed-term for the duration of the apprenticeship programme (18 months).
