Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

Thinking about Teaching?

Come and join our team!

Start your teaching career through supportive, School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT), receiving personal support from experienced educators and being part of our MAT, which consists of 21 church schools spread across Suffolk. You will gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) on this full-time, unsalaried teacher training programme.

Our schools are a mix of large and small, rural and urban and each school serves its local community. We are keen that schools retain the best of what is unique about them, whilst working together as part of a harmonious whole. Schools are accountable to the MAT, but we offer a significant amount of autonomy, which we know schools enjoy. We promote collaboration between schools for the benefit of pupils and staff. Our interdependence requires high levels of commitment, performance and trust. The Christian faith which underpins our MAT offers “life in all its fulness”. The Church of England offers a compelling vision for education, which is all about educating for wisdom, hope, community and dignity.

If you train to teach through our SCITT programme, we can offer you a range of placements to suit your locality, from large urban schools in Ipswich to small church schools closer to the coast; from the Essex border to the Norwich border. Once we have trained you, then we want you to stay in our family of schools, so we guarantee you an interview for posts across all our schools that would suit an ECT, starting in September 2027.
